Humankind is evolving in mind as well as in body. Indeed the body is a reflection of mind or consciousness.
As we enter the 2000-year span of the age of Aguarius, we find that the ground rules are subtly different from those of the preceeding age, Pisces. Many changes since the turn of the century in 1900 indicate greater emphasis on a scientific approach to life, choosing a way of life that is more suited to one's personal needs, and redefining roles, such as god-self, man-woman, parent-child, society-individual, and so on.
To me life must be a conscious journey to have meaning; but mind must be balanced with heart.
So I offer my observations, discoveries, and points of illumination here in this manifestation of the Aquarian age, the web-log. If you would like to comment, feel free.

What the real astrologers have to say...
Taking a look at what other astrologers have to say about this full Moon:
Jeff Jawer at stariq.com in his full Moon report:
This Full Moon is a Total Lunar Eclipse that may set the stage for much that follows in 2008. The opposition of the Sun in imaginative Pisces and the Moon in pragmatic Virgo is an annual event that contrasts the ideal with the real. Serious Saturn's conjunction with the Moon weighs heavily in favor of bringing dreams down to earth. However, a Lunar Eclipse suggests that something's got to go: an old habit or frustrating job may be ripe for change. Potent Pluto in ambitious Capricorn aligns in a supportive trine to Saturn and the Moon, empowering us with the ability to eliminate waste and concentrate our efforts where they will be most effective.
Lisa Dale Miller at astrowisdom posts about this new Moon:
This is the Full Moon of healing and service. Virgo understands that disease manifests itself in societies as well as in individuals. There is so much dis-ease in our world and we all need to awaken to our role as healers. This is especially true on this Full Moon in Virgo, with a total lunar eclipse. The soulful, peacemaking Pisces Sun opposes the scientific, nature-based healing Virgo Moon. What a perfect night to release your New Moon in Aquarius intentions for radical change (especially if they revolve around health issues) and celebrate the hard work you have done over the last two weeks toward these goals. ...
Eclipses co-mingle the energies of Moon and Sun, often creating disturbing or intensified effects. The Pisces Sun rules a spectrum of experience ranging from pure transcendence, selflessness, unconditional love, to addiction, co-dependency, denial and fantasy. These energies literally cover and hide the energy of the practical, analytical Virgo Moon; veiling this Moon’s clarity and grounded reality-based thinking.
On this Full Moon, the Sun in Pisces opposes the Moon/Saturn conjunction in Virgo. This opposition enlivens the integration of healing through transcendence and attending to bodily health. But it may also bring up more negative feelings of inertia/limitation due to the perfectionism of Virgo and the negations/denials of Pisces.
Robert Ayres at Astrological Alchemy says about the full Moon:
The Full Moon falls in Virgo 1 degree and the keyword for this decanate is Achievement. The achievement that is referred to here is the result of translating our thoughts and ideas into action, which results in achievement. The ideas that have been bouncing around in our minds for awhile need to be put into action now.
The Moon is conjunct Saturn and the Dragon’s Tail, which means that we are being tested to have the courage to overcome stuckness, laziness, and fear that hold us back from achieving what is desired. The primary negative aspect is the opposition of the Moon stellium with the Sun stellium of Sun, Neptune, and Dragon’s Head. On the positive side, the planetary configuration at Full Moon forms a mystic rectangle of trines and sextiles. This provides significant support for self-transformation through action.
These are fundamentally positive lunations, so be sure to take advantage of the cosmic opportunities presented now. Remember, if fear confronts you, it can be overcome through action. Enjoy!
My take..
On the full Moon
Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, is turning direct. Interesting that it's occurring at the time of the full Moon. Generally, delays or negative news should clear up now. To help with understanding and anticipating retrogrades in 2008 here is a page of stations found at Cafe Astrology.
Vesta, the asteroid, is nearly exactly conjunct the Sun during this moon event. Normally I don't look at the asteroids (Ceres, Pallas Athena, Juno and Vesta) because they're new to the astrological pantheon and relatively minor celestial bodies, that is, not planets or lights. But they are clearly related to Virgo, and this full Moon occurs in Virgo. The keywords for Vesta are rituals - preserving -- think of the Roman Vestal virgins. Emma Belle Donath in Asteroids in the Birth Chart says of Vesta:
Vesta represents fire tamed and used for man's benefit. This Goddess of the Hearth was one of the oldest deities worshiped by man because of his respect for fire. Meals began and ended with an offering to Vesta. When members of the family left their parental homes they were given a flame of fire for their new dwellings. The fire was never allowed to go out and a very responsible member of the family was appointed to tend the fire and keep it burning. This led to the perpetual flame on the altar in places of worship.
Vesta conjunct the Sun in Pisces in opposition to the Moon suggests a conscious sacrifice, possibly in terms of denying oneself a short-term satisfaction, perhaps emotional, in order to attain a long-term goal.
On the full Moon as it relates to the U.S. natal chart
Another asteroid, Pallas Athena, is closely conjunct the U.S.'s natal Moon. Pallas' keywords are patterns - protecting. At this time the North Node is applying to a conjunct with the natal Moon and Pallas in Aquarius. Suggested here are the good timing and ability to attract the correct people to listen to your ideas or insights; meeting and working with others who have similar inclinations or feelings; creativity and inventiveness as a primary purpose in life.
Chiron, a planetoid in the outer solar system, is currently conjuncting the point at which February's new Moon occurred. In the span between Chiron and the Sun are Neptune, North Node and Pallas Athena. The current collection of contenders for the presidential nomination comes to mind; also Americans' aptitude for innovation and appreciation of skill and nobleness of spirit. At least in the classic movies.
For a little background on Chiron here is a quote from Martin Lass' Astrology and Healing Pages:
Chiron's issues and affairs concern health and disease and their relationship to our spiritual journey through life. Chiron says that health and disease, dysfunction and disorder, are our teachers. They are homing beacons towards our Return to Spirit, towards greater wholeness, consciousness, Truth and Love.
Orthodox medicine and psychology approach dysfunction from the point of view of symptoms and their root causes. Chiron calls the root cause, the Wound. Orthodoxy seeks to fix, correct, cure, or get rid of our Wounds. Chiron says that there is nothing to fix, correct, cure or get rid of. Chiron says that the Wound contains a Gift and that the Healing journey is the process of discovering that Gift. The Wound is Healed when the Gift is embraced.

What the real astrologers have to say...
Taking a look at what other astrologers have to say about this new Moon:
Jeff Jawer at stariq.com in his New Moon report:
The innovative New Moon in Aquarius brings fresh ideas reminding us that we belong to a global community. Initiating friendships and group projects is a natural inclination now, but letting go of individuals and expectations may come first. That's because this Sun-Moon conjunction is a Solar Eclipse that draws the curtain on outdated ideals and illusions. Dreamy Neptune, mental Mercury and compassionate Chiron are closely conjunct this lunation, making it a rich moment to change your intellectual scenery and alter your place in the community. Release those people and causes that are more mouth than movement, and withdraw from organizations where you find yourself turning in circles. Newly direct Mars is harmoniously aligned with the Aquarian cluster opening fresh paths of inspiration and activity.
Lisa Dale Miller at astrowisdom posts about this new Moon:
This is the New Moon for radical change. Aquarius is often thought of as visionary: an energy that looks beyond the norm, questions accepted truths, boldly claims originality, flies in the face of reason; and flatly refuses to blindly follow the dictates of others. And oh, if you are like me, (always ready to dive into Aquarian energy) you will be very happy on this New Moon with its Chiron/Mercury/Sun/Moon/Neptune conjunction in utopian Aquarius. This will be our first New Moon with Pluto in Capricorn, joined by Venus and Jupiter in this most embodied and demanding of signs. The combination of these planets in Aquarius and Capricorn represent a mind-blowing head-to-head struggle between the energies of Saturn (reality) and Uranus (innovative vision). Add to this an energetic direct-moving Mars in Gemini trine Sun/Moon/Neptune in Aquarius and a slow, methodical retrograde Saturn in Virgo trine Pluto/Jupiter in Capricorn, and we’ve got a New Moon perfect for envisioning actual implementation of radical change.
The annular solar eclipse will add a bit of heightened energy to this New Moon. Partial phases of the eclipse will be visible primarily from eastern Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. For more information on the eclipse go to NASA’s Eclipse homepage http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/OH/OH2008.html#2008Feb07A
Robert Ayres at Astrological Alchemy says about the new Moon and Eclipse:
This month the New Moon falls in Aquarius on February 6 and is a solar eclipse. During this phenomenon, which occurs about every six months, the Moon moves between the Sun and the Earth and creates a shadow known as the penumbra. The solar energy and consciousness is temporarily blocked. This is perceived, both scientifically and clairvoyantly, as a temporary suspension of the Sun’s influence. This creates an opportunity for a subtle and profound energetic shift to take place. Eclipses always act as a cosmic exclamation point to the message of the stars. This eclipse is no exception...
Reach out beyond your comfort zone and break old self-imposed, limiting boundaries that hold you back from living life as it was designed to be lived. Reach out to your neighbor, community, and society and come together in fraternity and friendship. The deeper intent of Aquarius is to create an ideal society or heaven on Earth. But this can only happen as a result of each of us internalizing and living the Aquarian consciousness. This New Moon is seeding that intention. Embrace this opportunity and experience an improved quality of life.
My take..
On the new Moon
There is a Bucket configuration with all the planets contained in the eastern hemisphere and bounded by an opposition between Saturn in Virgo and Uranus in Pisces. The orb (greater than 10°) is too large for a aspect, so the opposition is by placement in sign. The Virgo-Pisces axis is concerned with the logical, detail-oriented self vs. the visionary. Mars in Gemini, firing communication, is positioned as the singleton. Astrologer Marc Edmund Jones originated this system of whole chart patterns and presented his ideas in Guide to Horoscope Interpretation, first published in 1941.
About the Bucket configuration, he says
The singleton [Mars] is a focal determinator, indicating a special capacity or a gift for some particularly effective kind of activity.
With the ruler of Gemini turning direct on the 18th all kinds of communication are emphasized.
Pluto is entering Capricorn; it began on the 25th of January. Here is some tidbits (I'd like to quote the whole thing) from an excellent article by Lynn (Monson) Hayes at astrodynamics!!:
Pluto has been traveling through Sagittarius since 1995, bringing with it wars (Pluto) over religion and ideology (Sagittarius), as well as "culture wars" and the growing divide between groups that think differently, all Sagittarius archetypes. Sagittarius rules the media and entertainment, and the rise of a new compulsivity in celebrity journalism has grown up since Pluto entered Sagittarius, with the internet spawning a huge new gossip market. Sagittarius carries with it a nearly relentless optimism; ruled by Jupiter with its expansive need for growth, Pluto in Sagittarius has seen soaring home prices and a burgeoning stock market that seems to have no end. The "new economy" of the dot com era occurred under Pluto's Sagittarian influence, as did the explosion of the vacation home market.
Pluto transits typically include a breakdown phase, where structures that no longer serve us are dismantled to make room for new structures that are more in line with our spiritual evolution. I like to think of these periods as course corrections, where our guides or gods decide that certain changes are required. If we understand the process and can surrender to it with trust, this can be an exhilarating time of transformation and empowerment. If we resist and hold on to the past it can be full of tragedy and pain.
Capricorn is the sign of the builder, the achiever. Capricorn is rooted in the material world and understands that life on earth requires a practical approach to the matters of earning a living. There is also a drive for success; to climb the highest mountains like the goat which is it's symbol. For Capricorn, the ends justify the means and achievement of one's goals is the important thing and it is able to maintain a powerful focus. ...
When Pluto goes through Capricorn we can expect the transformation of all things ruled by that sign - such as our religious institutions, halls of government and political structures, the way we inter our dead and take care of our old people, construction techniques and buildings, and how we handle ownership of property.
On the new Moon as it relates to the U.S. natal chart
There is a wedge configuration between transiting Mars and Pluto in out-of sign opposition and the Natal Moon in Aquarius. This new Moon is conjuncting the Natal one and they are both situated in the fourth house. In a mundane figure, the fourth house indicates circumstances and events affecting real estate values, mines and their products, buildings, crops, produce and all agricultural interests. This house also incorporates the housing and living conditions of the people and their patriotic inclinations and the interests of the people as distinguished from those of the government and the governing class; and democratic versus autocratic tendencies in government, and between governments. (paraphrased from Nicolas deVore's Encyclopedia of Astrology)
In the everyday world a wedge can be used to hold a door open, or hold two things separate. The wedge both introduces tension and acts to hold things in place. The two Moons, acting as a wedge and in benign aspects to the opposition of two power planets, bring to mind a momentary cease-fire and taking some time to recoup. At such times, our feelings often catch up with us, and we vent.
