Winter Solstice @ 00° Capricorn 00

Here are two charts for the Winter Solstice, aka Winter Ingress, on 21 December 2009, 5:48 PM (GMT); and a report on the Ingress (see notes below). The winter ingress is considered significant because it marks the point of the Sun's yearly return and the return of light.

Here are calendars with astrological annotation for the first quarter of 2010:

Looking at the sidereal chart, note that the Sun is shifted about 25°, back to Sagittarius. This is true for all the points in the chart. For an explanation why this is so, check out this article in the wikipedia. It's pretty much right on.

Keep in mind that drawing up a chart is essentially science-based, using astronomical positions and math. Reading and interpreting a chart is an art, a balance between collective consciousness, evolving consciousness, and meanings that work in our world(s) today.

About the Winter Ingress Report

  • This report (generated by software available from Matrix Astrology) reads the chart as if it were a natal one. According to some astrologers, this is the birth chart for the coming year and can indicate trends. It also sums up conditions existing at the moment of crossing over to a new year.
    • Try to read the report as impersonally as possible, substituting 'we' for 'you.'
    • Here is a deeper look at the winter solstice is given by Rob Tillett in his article "The Solstices."
    • Here's an interesting take on the winter solstice from the Huffington Post
    • And here's a listing of articles about ingresses
  • I've greyed-out the references to houses, because the chart was drawn for one location on Earth -- Greenwich, United Kingdom. If you don't live there or nearby, the houses occupied are different.
  • While all of the planets, lights, and asteroids are delineated, no mention is made of patterns, relative strengths and weaknesses, final dispositors, and so on. So proceed with caution.
  • Transpluto is to me an unknown. Here is a little information, somewhat contradictory, on it:
  • My purpose in presenting this relatively raw, undigested information in which some parts are simply not usable is to acquaint you with all that is available. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Who knows, it may prove to be useful to you, as an individual.

Another very late calendar (and two early ones)

Again, my apologies -- can't seem to be on time with the calendars lately.

So here are three of them:

The very late May calendar

I just realized that the May calendar wasn't posted. So here it is; and I hope you still have some use for it. My apologies for the lateness. It's interesting that just as Saturn turned direct my computer speakers died. Alan Leo, an astrologer, says that Saturn governs the sense of hearing.
