This cycle begins with the Sun and new Moon at 2° Sagittarius and comes to fruition with the full Moon balanced against the Sun on the Gemini/Sagittarius axis at 18° Gemini. This is the twelvth calendar cycle of the year. For the next year-and-a-half the new Moon with occur in one month and the full Moon in the following month; in August 2012, they will once again occur in the same month.
The Moon in Sagittarius prefers keeping it simple and is not much interested in housework. Big ideas and high aspirations are more the order of the day. There is a good description of the Moon in Sagittarius at About.com: Astrology. I particularly like this paragraph:
The Moon in Sagittarius has a mission, and can’t be held back by outdated relationships or ideas. Their province is the future, so there has to be a swiftly evolving nature to their work and love lives. Along their speedy way, they’ll shine a focused light on lost dreams and leave a wake of encouragement and inspiration behind them.
Follow up:
On the day of the new Moon Mercury turns retrograde, and the new Moon will partially eclipse the Sun. Mercury turns retrograde while transiting Sagittarius, suggesting that long-distance communications may be subject to unexpected confusion, even break down, and long-range plans may require review.
Referring again to About.com and Molly Hall's description of retrograde Mercury, I quote her last section in the article, "Making the Most of Mercury Retrograde:"
Astrology is a tool that can make you aware of patterns, like those that come during a Mercury retrograde. Just observe and see what happens, and be open to the past returning for review. If it's coming back, there's likely something more to learn or release from it. You don't have to retreat to the zen monastery, but a little solitude and quiet reflection never hurt anybody.
As at the last full Moon, Mars in Virgo appears to be the focus of much activity among the planets, being in opposition to Neptune and Chiron, part of a grand trine with Jupiter and Pluto (in the earth element), and square the Sun-Moon dyad.
Mars in Virgo could well be the keynote for the current levels of civil unrest. With Mercury -- ruler of Gemini and Virgo -- turning retrograde, activity should lessen, but is by no means done.
This new Moon occurs in the 1st house, which speaks of the nation as a whole and general national characteristics (Neptune Café keywords). The ruler of the sign on the cusp (the Ascendant) is Pluto, the natural ruler of the house is Mars, and the ruler of the sign in which the new Moon is posited is Jupiter. As stated earlier, Mars-Jupiter-Pluto are part of a grand trine as this time. There should be a free-flowing resonance between these three planets with an emphasis on practical solutions and realistic expectations. This should be translatable into daily affairs.
The full Moon
When the Moon reaches its position at full -- opposite the sun -- it will be in Gemini and the Gemini/Sagittarius axis will be activated. Because Mercury, ruler of Gemini, is retrograde at the time, a normally chatty, light-hearted Gemini Moon could be somewhat flaky.
Again we see Mars operating as a focal point, also the Moon and a point at 28° Leo. Dane Rudhyar's Sabian symbol for this point is:
Many little birds on a limb of a big tree. --An Astrological Mandala
In his comments Rudhyar says this symbol contains elements of being "overwhelmed with possibilities." Neptune and Vesta are in opposition to this point, so expect the possibilities to be elusive, or have a sexual undertone.
While traversing the zodiac from its new to full position, the Moon's contacts are --

The full Moon this month is in the U.S.'s 8th house, placing her emphasis on
the national debt, taxes, what the people must pay to the state or nation, credit, mortality rates, insurance, corporate finances, inheritance, capital, loans --Neptune Café keywords page
The natural ruler of the 8th house is Pluto, currently in Capricorn and transiting the 2nd house, field of U.S. values and economy. While Pluto is not opposite the Moon by aspect or sign, it is in the opposing house. As is already known, while the people must pay taxes, corporations need not. Yet those protesting this are run off the streets. I am one of the 99% too.
