2009 Moon Cycle 7: full Moon in Aquarius
This is part 2 of the Cycle 7 post
The full Moon
At this full Moon, the Sun-Moon dyad occupies and activates a Leo-Aquarius axis. This axis is described by Clare Martin at AstroDienst (www.astro.com) thus:
Ruled by the Sun and Saturn, the Leo/Aquarius axis is another aspect of the parent-child relationship, although this time it is a positive, fire-air axis. The Sun-ruled Leo pole describes our unique creativity and individual potential, and the Saturn-ruled Aquarius pole describes the collective rules and laws to which we are all subject. Uranus, the transpersonal ruler of Aquarius, also has its part to play on this axis, and often operates as a refusal to obey any rules other than its own or to function as part of a group. The Uranian urge is to challenge and disrupt the status quo. It is led from the head rather than the heart although, ultimately, there is nothing more powerful or effective than the harnessing of 'hearts and minds'.
Many astrologers consider Saturn the old ruler of Aquarius, Uranus the new. In actuality both still influence the sign and its occupants. Of the two, only Uranus is aspecting the Moon, forming a separating semi-square. Uranus, being in Pisces and retrograde, speaks mostly to himself of past glories, his rebellious spirit dampened by the requirements of the day. The Sun is in its own sign, suggesting that personal, self-centered matters will overpower any urge to accomplish group goals at this time.
The planet in closest aspect to the Sun and Moon is Mars in Gemini, it being trine the Moon and sextile the Sun. There may be a tendency toward impulsive -- and short-lived -- emotional reactions but outcomes should be positive due to the trine/sextile. A sextile speaks of opportunity, perhaps to think about, discuss, or begin work on a personal project that has been put aside.
A note on the full Moon being in the 13th degree of Aquarius: for me personally 13 is a number of beginning. While the full Moon usually indicates the close of a cycle and the resolution of issues started at the new Moon, here the tables seem to be turned. The new Moon was weak and exiting Cancer; the full Moon is at a point of beginning in Aquarius. Food for thought.
Sun is conjunct the Midheaven (MC) and in the 9th house; and the Moon is at the Nadir (IC) and in the 3rd. Author Nicholas Devore notes in his Encyclopedia of Astrology:
Observe a distinction drawn between the public's attitude toward the press, as indicated by the Third House, and the attitude of the press toward the public as indicated by the Ninth House.
With respect to the Sun-Midheaven combination, Michael Munkasey (Midpoints: Unleashing the Power of the Planets, 1991) says that its positive influence in politics and/or business is --
The ability of the leadership to place civil priorities above their own; recognition by others of a role and place in the world for business or national ideas; molding and shaping global politics or programs.
Meanwhile the Moon counters with
Fears about what to do or how to become reocgnized for your contributions; understanding the primary equality of the sexes in all business, social, and family areas of life; your family's role in shaping your basic thrust in life. (Munkasey)
