This lunation with the new Moon in Pisces and full Moon in Virgo is the second Lunar cycle of the year.
The new MoonThe new Moon is relatively at ease in Pisces, a mutable water sign. Mutable signs are reactive; and the water element represents emotions. The sign Pisces indicates an ending of some kind and often carries the feeling of being trapped.
The ruler of Pisces -- Neptune -- is about 12° away in Aquarius. This is considered a conjunct by many astrologers. Neptune adds an air of otherworldliness and can indicate people who are not being straightforward. Opposite the Sun/Moon combo is the asteroid Ceres in retrograde motion. Ceres is strong in Virgo and may well rule it; she speaks of that which one cherishes and the fruits of the earth.
Some of the situations and kinds of behaviors you may encounter during this new Moon
- Situations that look very bad, then turn out not to be
- Passive aggressive people and people whining about trivial misfortunes
- A need to emotionally distance yourself from someone you hold dear
- Emotionally charged situations that form quickly, then dissipate just as quickly
- A new appreciation for what you hold dear, and possibly a sense of it slipping away
- Confusing dreams
It looks like the seeds laid by the new Moon are related to authority figures (Moon-Saturn as mother-father) vs. a desire to escape reality. This sounds to me like being called on the carpet for not doing your homework. This could equally apply to those trying to find advantage through get-rich-quick schemes suddenly seeing 'the light.'
All this comes to fruition at the full Moon in Virgo, when the Moon conjuncts Saturn in Virgo and the Sun conjuncts Uranus in Pisces. These four bodies form a tight group. The Virgo-Pisces axis balances health and service with debts and self-redemption.
With the new Moon ushering in Lent, the tone is set for austerity and self-denial, at least for practicing Catholics. But Spring is near, and who can resist the joy of the returning light.
The U.S.For the U.S. the new Moon is conjunct natal Ceres in the 4th house and at the full Moon segues to the Moon-Saturn combo being conjunct natal Neptune in the 10th house and the cusp of the house. Natal Ceres in the 4th speaks of the home you cherish. It may not be one made of sticks and stones, but a place of peace and harmony and beauty you can only dream of. At this full Moon there is an opportunity to make it more real, if only by visualizing it clearer. Tenth house matters includes friends, hopes and wishes. The Moon and Saturn are powerful there, speaking of possible delays, but also offering focus, concreteness.
