What my preferred astrologers have to say...
Taking a look at what other astrologers have to say about this full Moon:
Jeff Jawer at stariq.com in his full Moon report:
The Full Moon in Aquarius normally counters the Leo Sun's heart-centered perspective with cool objectivity and intellectual detachment. This one, though, is joined with dreamy Neptune, clouding Aquarius' clear thinking with images and fantasies beyond the bounds of logic. This could provoke flights of fancy and illusions that drain time and energy, yet it can also enrich us with deeper spirituality, intuition, compassion, forgiveness and imagination.
Robert Ayres at Astrological Alchemy says about the full Moon:
The Full Moon this month falls in Aquarius 24 degrees on August 16. It is also a lunar eclipse. This occurs when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon and the shadow of the Earth covers the Moon. Esoterically, lunar eclipses create the opportunity for negative beings to infiltrate into life on Earth. It is a good time to meditate, ground and protect yourself.
Aquarius is the sign of the zodiac for enlightenment, freedom, and liberation. It represents the inherent capacity of human consciousness to be one with the divine. The Full Moon falls in Aquarius 24 degrees and the keyword for this decanate is Repression. The intention behind this event is to free and liberate ourselves from repression and fear. Fear-based thinking, feeling and action results in a life of limitation. It is time to free ourselves from fear.
Neptune is conjunct the Moon and in opposition to the Sun. This represents the opportunity to integrate the spiritual into the material. There can be some confusion surrounding this time. The Mars/Uranus/Pluto T-cross is still happening, so be ready for some bumps. Rememberââ?¬â?crisis is opportunity. Enjoy!
My take..
»on the full Moon
Again there are few patterns at this Moon event, but about 100 aspects. There is a very strong grand trine with Saturn-Mercury-Venus (all conjunct) in Virgo trine Jupiter in Capricorn trine Vesta in Taurus. All the aspects are close with no more than 4 degrees difference. Energy flows smoothly in a grand trine and one can become trapped in its ease. This one is in the earth element and Jupiter at 13 degrees Capricorn marks the beginning of a change in outlook or philosophy with respect to career and figures of authority.
Coincident to this grand trine but not related by aspect, is a T-wedge containing Pluto in Sagittarius widely square Uranus in Pisces and in close square Mars in Virgo. Mars and Uranus are loosely in opposition. These three planets can be violent, abrupt, and harbingers of change. But they are in mutable signs, which mutes their thunder and puts it in perspective.
To be noted, however, is Uranus quincunx (or inconjunct @ 150° separation) the Sun. According to Nicholas de Vore's Encyclopedia of Astrology, this indicates
Obligation, reorganization. Adjustments, as symbolized by the planets, houses, and signs involved. Incongruity. Fence-sitting.
With the Sun being in Leo and Uranus in Pisces, it seems to me we're talking about established habit patterns vs. new realities concerning oil, global warming, and globalization.
The Moon is conjunct Neptune and Chiron with its North Node conjunct Chiron. (Aspects to the Moon's nodes are limited to 3 degrees.) By definition a full Moon is an opposition between the Sun and Moon; and also by practical definition an opposition is about awareness and seeing both sides of an issue. Here the issue appears to personal self-expression and pleasure vs. wider social demands.
»on the full Moon as it relates to the U.S. natal chart
The transiting Moon is conjunct the U.S natal moon which suggests the beginning of a new emotional cycle (Curtis Manwaring, The Lost Horoscope X Files). My experience this last week was an emotional response to efforts to correct a long-standing, static -- read stagnating -- situation (status quo vs. Uranian upheaval).
Transiting Uranus, here in the 5th house and retrograde, is opposite natal Neptune in the 11th, suggesting that despite Uranus' best efforts, conditions will relax back to what was. The longer we delay making the necessary changes, the harder the actual changes will be.
