Full Moon @ 26° Capricorn 04′

Here are two charts for the full Moon on 18 July 2008, 8:00 AM (GMT).

What my preferred astrologers have to say...
Taking a look at what other astrologers have to say about this full Moon:

Jeff Jawer at stariq.com in his full Moon report:

The Sun in self-protective Cancer facing the Moon in hard-nosed Capricorn presents opposite approaches to life. They do share, though, a common interest in security. Whether it's gained by being more willful in the world or by retreating to one's inner sanctum, learning how to move from tender to tough with graciousness offers the skills of both of these signs. Equal access to self-nurturing and social ambition is a potent gift of this lunation.

Robert Ayres at Astrological Alchemy says about the full Moon:

The Full Moon falls in Capricorn on July 18. The Goat is the opposite sign of The Crab and embodies the Father principle. It is the divine will as it manifests in the law of karma in the divine plan. It is tough love as opposed to mother love. Capricorn rules the power and authority of the worldly institutions of politics and business. It is a very strong grounding, stabilizing, practical, and material energy. The Capricorn consciousness has dominated world thought for quite some time.

The Moon falls in Capricorn 26 degrees and the keyword for this decanate is Idealism. The intention is to go for the ideal and not settle for mediocrity. Ultimately, it is the intention to create an ideal society. Jupiter is conjunct the Moon and in opposition to Mercury and the Sun. This represents tension between the mind and heart or thinking and feeling. Uranus trines the Sun and sextiles the Moon/Jupiter, providing support for expanding our heart and mind to take into account the well-being of everyone. Jupiter is trine a Saturn/Mars conjunction which sextiles Mercury. These aspects support wisdom and understanding based on honest communication. Supplemented by focused, disciplined action this can resolve any situation that might arise. Overall, it is a good month. Enjoy!

My take..
   »on the full Moon

There is a Yod with the Moon in Capricorn flanked by Pluto in Sagittatius and Neptune in Aquarius with the Sun in Cancer at the point. Neptune represents wishful thinking and Pluto hard realities, especially in demand vs. supply. The Moon is our feelings; and the sun (being in Cancer) how we express ourselves in our daily lives.

It has become pretty clear in the last month how our daily lives can be affected by changes in supplies of a key commodity, such as oil. A number of our favorite toys have become too expensive to operate as usual and play activities are curtailed. As a result we are torn between finding ways to remedy the situation (Pluto in Sagittarius) and just wanting more oil (Neptune). But what we should really want is freedom from oil (mutual reception between Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces). Whatever solution manifests will not be quick (Moon in Capricorn), but it must be (Sun elevated and at the point).

»on the full Moon as it relates to the U.S. natal chart

This same Yod has the Sun placed in the 9th house of the U.S.chart, conjunct natal Venus. This suggests that institutions of higher learning (universities, think tanks) may have the solutions needed. But the opposing Moon is conjunct natal Pluto in Capricorn in the third house, which suggests that the pressure of public demand may unduly influence all, via U.S. leaders. The news media is being used.

Keep in mind: the idea is to eliminate the need for oil -- an undependable resource -- and find a better energy solution. Be firm.
