The Power of Roundness, part 1
Nearly every culture in the world considers the circle a symbol of wholeness. About the circle Black Elk, A Holy Man of the Oglala Sioux, says:
The sky is round, and I have heard that the earth is round like
a ball, and so are all the stars. The wind in its greatest power, whirls.
Birds make their nests in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours.
The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circle. The moon does the
same, and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their
changing, and always come back again to where they were. The life of a
man is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything
where power moves...(from The Circle by Michael Bukay)

When a dot is added to the center of the circle, it becomes the glyph for the Sun in astrology, and has a number of other meanings as well (see http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/26/268.html). Part of the article is quoted below:
In esoteric astrology
represents the creative spark of divine consciousness that exists in every individual linking him or her to the source and origin of life, and making him or her the co-creator of the world. This spark of consciousness is the self ("I think, thus I am," as Descartes expressed it). In astrological psychology
stands for the desire to live and the individual's life energy. This life energy is "coloured" by the zodiac sign in which
is positioned at the moment of the individual's birth, according to astrologers.
It seems the Creator really is a geometer. The other day I came across what appears to be scientific verification of the wholeness of a circle. In an optics review under the topic of diffraction, the diffraction pattern of a circle was concentric, the diffraction pattern for a square/rectangle was not. More later.
