Full Moon @ 13° Virgo 00′
Here is a chart for the Full Moon in Virgo today and a calendar with astrological notation for March. The full Moon occurs at 11:18 PM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT); a total lunar eclipse occurs at 11:22 PM.
As usual, Lisa Dale Miller at astrowisdom.com and Jeffrey Kishner at Lunartunes have interesting insights about the current Moon event.
Lisa Dale Miller at Astrowisdom notes
This is the Full Moon of healing and service. Virgo understands that disease manifests itself in societies as well as in individuals. There is so much dis-ease in our world and we all need to awaken to our role as healers. This is especially true on this Full Moon in Virgo, with a total lunar eclipse. The soulful, peacemaker Pisces Sun opposes the scientific, nature-based healing Virgo Moon. What a perfect night to release your New Moon in Aquarius intentions for radical change (especially if they revolve around health issues) and celebrate the hard work you have done over the last two weeks toward these goals...
Jeffrey Kishner at Lunartunes summarizes his comments with
The nitty gritty: This lunar eclipse occurs at 13 Virgo. If you have a personal planet or angle between 10 and 18 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces, this eclipse will have a powerful impact on you. For everyone, look to the houses that contain the middle degrees of Virgo and Pisces to determine which areas of your life will be affected. Jupiter in Sag is making a T-Square to this eclipse, which exaggerates an already unstable situation...
Jeffrey also has some interesting information about eclipses:
- How to prepare for an eclipse. This article has a very good quote from Bernadette Brady
- Fear of an eclipse
Robert Wilkinson at Aquarius Papers says about this eclipse:
In a few days we get the first Lunar Eclipse of 2007 at 13 degrees of Virgo-Pisces on March 3 at 3:17 pm PST. 15 days later we experience the first Solar Eclipse of the year at 29 Pisces just before the Vernal Equinox at 5:08 pm PDT on March 20. Both eclipses will shut some old ways of life down forever, leaving us space to embrace the new that is already prepared for us exactly mirroring what we have prepared for up to now. These will shine a light on closures, courage, and transmutation of energies into personality strengths in our process of "escaping from a narrow destiny," promised by whatever has educated us since September 2006's Solar and Lunar Eclipses.
Personally I noted that this full Moon chart:
- Has a grand cross in fixed signs. Because the ascendant is one of the points on the grand cross, this is only true for Greenwich, England.
- Has a grand trine in fire signs.
- Once again emphasizes retrograde Saturn in Leo.
Michael McClain at astrology-numerology.com defines the grand cross and grand trine.
Lauren Edmond at artcharts.com has a good article about Saturn in Leo. Here's a quote from it.
Saturn in Leo is in what is called its DETRIMENT. This is because Saturn rules Aquarius, the sign opposite Leo, and in Leo, Saturn works against its own best interests-- especially when maintaining POWER is at stake. In LEO, Saturn is dignified, regal, and looks out at the crowd from a higher regal stance. Pomp and royal splendor can surround major leaders as they sit on their thrones, safe within their conservative positions, and secure behind their status, masks, and costumes. Yet, all the regal splendor can be concealing the true personality and leaders may really feel like small children behind the mask of leadership, unable to truly connect and insensitive to the feelings of individuals, caught up in seeing the outer superficial reality, but not able to build from their heart or true inner center or love, because they are limited and constrained by the image they project to the public and are busy playing the role. Saturn in Leo is all about the show and setting the stage, while the heart is engaged only as a prop.
